Casino Night

 

Dance the night away while supporting local breast cancer Thrivers! We are hopeful that we will raise enough at our inaugural Casino Night to fund a full year of 412Thrive’s services for our growing community. The only way we can pull this off is with the help and generosity of our community. ​

 

When: Friday, March 31, 2023 VIP Hour 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM General Admission 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM ​

 

Where: Westin Pittsburgh, 1000 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 ​

 

Ticket Information: VIP $200 General Admission $150 ​ Both tickets include heavy appetizers, one drink ticket, gambling vouchers ($1,000 for General Admission and $2,000 for VIPs), access to a variety of casino games, silent auction, and entertainment you will not want to miss. VIP ticket includes a 412thrive merch gift, early access at 5:00 PM, and a chance to sample exclusive drinks and appetizers before the party begins. ​

 

Additional Details: Black tie formal event. Cash bar. Room blocks will be available at the Westin Pittsburgh. Valet parking and parking garage available.

Thriver Events are offered free of charge to all attendees. These monthly social gatherings create a safe space for Thrivers to get together and form lasting relationships. The mental health benefits of talking with others who have gone through similar treatment and surgery cannot be underestimated.

 

2022 Events

May 2022 412Thrive enjoyed a beautiful day with Thrivers at Elm Grove Park for Thrivers High Tea. Thrivers enjoyed the outdoors while at a beautiful tea party. Tea, sandwiches, and sweets were enjoyed in a beautiful set up by Glam Picnic Company.

April 2022 412Thrive celebrated 412Thrive Day with an event at Mindful Brewing. The event raised $7,500 for care packages. The event included drinks, appetizers, and basket raffles. We proudly showed off Proclamations from Allegheny County Council, and Commissioners from Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

March 2022 412Thrive spent the day with local Thrivers at Altered Genius Brewing Co. in Ambridge PA. We shared appetizers and everyone was able to pick 4 different beers to try in a flight. Thrivers were able to chat and form friendships while listening to live music. 

 

February 2022 412Thrive spent the day at Calm Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville enjoying brunch while listening to licensed sex therapist Dana Kirkpatrick chat about sex after a breast cancer diagnosis. We also heard from Abby Ritter on mindfulness and yoga, and Julia Bodura Yost on art therapy and how to make a casting of your breasts before or after mastectomy.

 

January 2022 412Thrive spent the evening at Coop De Ville playing games and eating delicious chicken.

 

2021 Events

December 2021 412Thrive spent the day at the Depreciation Lands Museum hosted by Board Member, Arlene Kray, decorating cookies and enjoying drinks and snacks. We also boxed and delivered cookie decorating kits for local Thrivers who could not make it to the event due to treatment.

 

November 2021 412Thrive held a Zoom session with Andre Plate, Ph.D., Clinical Health Psychologist for AHN’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute. Dr. Plate covered a wide variety of strategies to deal with Depression and PTSD from going through Breast Cancer. We felt it was important to offer this session prior to the holidays

 

November 2021 412Thrive spent the day at Mix Candle Company in Lawrenceville. We enjoyed wine and treats while chatting and creating our own signature scented candles. Each Thriver got to take home a handmade candle of their choice.

 

October 2021 412Thrive enjoyed a rainy evening at the Asian Lantern Festival at the Pittsburgh Zoo. A little rain, (actually, a lot of rain) can’t break us Thrivers! We make the best out of every situation and still had a great time seeing the beautiful light displays.

 

October 2021 412Thrive held a photo shoot at Schwirian’s Sunflower Farm in Monongahela PA. We enjoyed snacks and champagne. With October being widely recognized as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, it can be particularly difficult for Thrivers so we held two events this month.

 

September 2021 412Thrive joined the Race to Beat Women’s Cancers at North Park. Thrivers walked together during the survivors walk and met afterward for lunch at the North Park Lounge.

 

August 2021 412Thrive spent the evening at Founder Samantha Moatz’s, for a back yard movie night. We watched “The Other Sister” while enjoying movie themed snacks and each other’s company.

 

July 2021 412Thrive held a picnic lunch at Northmoreland Park, Westmoreland County. We played games and enjoyed delicious food and each other’s company.

 

June 2021 412Thrive enjoyed an outdoor movie night. We watched “In the Heights” while enjoying each other’s company and fun snacks!

 

May 2021 412Thrive held a book swap luncheon. Thrivers brought books they loved but no longer needed. We decorated our own flowerpots, and each thriver was given a seedling Sunflower plant. It was a wonderful day with beautiful weather, lunch, and conversation. Books that were brought but not taken were donated to a church group.

 

April 2021 412Thrive celebrated 412Thrive Day at Bombash & Earley in McMurray PA where they held a beautiful fundraiser for us, debuting the scent “Sunflower Soul” inspired by 412Thrive’s inspirational flower. This inaugural 412Thrive Day was highlighted by Board President, Beverly Cwalina, reading a proclamation from the Allegheny County Council. Similar proclamations were also made by County Commissioners from Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

 

March 2021 412Thrive enjoyed a hike and picnic lunch at Fall Run in the North Hills. We enjoyed fresh air and getting to meet each other for one of the first times since the pandemic had started.

 

February 2021 412Thrive enjoyed a special discount and party at Vintage Grace Boutique in Dormont. Each Thriver was gifted with a goodie bag as well as enjoying cookies and wine.

 

January 2021 412Thrive held a virtual book club with local author and MBC Thriver Jennifer Collins, discussing her book “The In-Between is Everything”. Jennifer passed away from MBC on December 16, 2021. 412Thrive has given copies of her book in our Chemotherapy Care Packages.  

 

January 2021 412Thrive held a virtual trivia game. Thrivers were invited via Zoom to play virtual trivia. The winner of each game received an amazon gift card!

 

2020 Events

December 2020 412Thrive held a virtual “Booze and Blankets” event. 28 Thrivers were delivered pre-cut no sew blankets along with hot cocoa mix and Baileys. We gathered via Zoom to play Never Have I Ever and got to know some fun facts about each other while making our blankets. This virtual event took the place of our Holiday Party due to Covid.

 

November 2020 412Thrive met at Settlers Cabin park to hike the Red Trail together.

 

October 2020 412Thrive met at Round Hill Farm to do a photo shoot! We enjoyed drinks and delicious snacks while having fun being fabulous for the camera! This event was also a celebration of founder Samantha Moatz being 10 years cancer free!

 

September 2020 412Thrive met at the Greenhouse Winery in Irwin PA for lunch and to meet each other and make lasting friendships.

 

August 2020 412Thrive had their first ever movie night in founder Samantha Moatz’s back yard. We watched “Now and Then” while enjoying movie snacks and each other’s company.

 

July 2020 412Thrive held our first ever in-person event since Covid began. We celebrated by enjoying lunch outside, 6 feet away from each other. Like always, it was a blast!

 

March 2020 – Founder Samantha Moatz hosted a wine and cheese event at her home with the idea of 412Thrive just starting to be formed. The following week, Covid shut down the world and 412Thrive was begun virtually with a Facebook Group and monthly Zoom chats which lasted until it was safer to meet in person.
